Well, that's just great! And, with points to spare, I might add. Good fer you!

It's always good to know you can keep the same job that doesn't pay even near enough to survive, eh?
(joke)

Congratulations!

Thank you all!!

And no they don't pay enough.

I heard that a person that translates for the hospitals here get $200.00 an hour. I don't get paid evan close to that.

Totally is a relief. It took me 5 tries but I finally did it.

Now I have to concentrate on a Drivers License.

I have to have one now because we have a Hispanic family in Peru (we have a Head Start there) and I would have to go there at least 3 times in the school year to interpret.

For 2 home visits with the teacher one in the fall when school starts, and one when school is almost over in the spring, then there is the parent teacher conference in October.

I can tell you that who-ever told you that someone is getting paid $200.00 to translate for the hospitals is not working for ST Joe, or is full of Poop!!!!

The translaters that we have here at St. Joe are mostly volunteers. My nieghbor Cindy is one of the volunteers. She gets paid NOTHING!!! And most of the times that she gets called to come in for help is in the middle of the night or a weekend when there isn't anyone here who can speak Spanish. We have several people throughout the hospital that we can call if we need them during most normal business hours. We also have these cool phones with two recievers on them that works kind of like 3-way calling. You get on one phone and the patient gets on the one attached to yours, and you can both speak to the interpreter together that way.

Cindy even had to take classes about medical terminology and proper patient care down in Indy before she could volunteer here. The hospital did pay for that, which is cool, because she could possibly use that training somewhere else.
